Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are fun-loving, hard-working elementary students. As a school, we have a focus on creating a love for reading. Our students absolutely love when it is their day to go book shopping in their classroom library. They get to find a book on their level or a book that they have some interest in that they've seen in the library or that their friend has recommended to them.

We want our students to get lost in books and truly enjoy what they are reading.

We want them to escape into these fantasy lands, relate to the characters they are reading about, or find humor in situations that may be new to them.

My Project

This project is set up in two parts. First, we are asking for some brand new bulk markers, crayons, and colored pencils because we all know what it is like to walk into the first day of school with brand new supplies. Having these specific boxes of materials will also help increase our instructional time when we do certain projects that need specific colors.

The second part of this project is based on the times we are currently facing as a nation.

We are asking for a number of books for our classroom library that are written to encourage, motivate, and inspire students to use their voice for good. We want them to see examples of advocacy, kindness, and pride in children and leaders throughout history. Our classroom community is going to be full of future leaders and we want them to know how important they are in this world.
