New Whiteboards and Other Needed Materials

My Project

Second graders LOVE dry erase boards. We use them daily practicing spelling, word building, math, answering questions, and showing how we solved problems. Boards we have now are so old they are falling apart, scratched and hard to clean.

Whiteboards allow me to have a quick look at their understanding of our lesson, with an easy way to correct any mistakes.

Being able to access our materials timely and efficiently will dramatically increase the time spend in practice instead of transitions. Having to find missing materials interrupts the rhythm of our lessons and allows students to become distracted or off task. Students being able to write spelling words and staff see across the group which students need more support quickly is a key factor in using dry erase boards. Students will be able to work on answering questions, practice blending words, and write them. We love demonstrating how to solve problems with pictures, words and graphs. Dry erase boards allow for children to take chances and fix mistakes easily.

New magnetic name plates let students know what groups they are in and where they need to go. Ink allows students to have colorful displayed work and posters in the classroom, creating a warm and engaging space to learn.

A colored pencil sharpener allows students to sharpen their colored pencils without destroying our pencil sharpener with the waxy center and beanbag fill and will provide comfortable seating for small group and partner reading throughout the space.
