I was lucky enough to be a student at the school I teach at many years ago. That said, imagine my surprise when I walked into my new classroom a few years ago and saw the SAME desks that I sat in as a first grader!
New tables for my students with a built-in whiteboard top will benefit my students in SO many ways.
Students will have a workspace at their fingertips to work through challenges together. In my class, I encourage students to embrace the process of solving a problem instead of simply getting the answer. These tables will encourage problem solving and collaboration.
Collaboration is a critical skill for students to learn at a young age. No matter what job they end up having, they will have to learn how to communicate with others in a positive, effective way. These specific tables will allow my students to build community with their classmates and learn cooperation skills. These skills are just as important as reading and math in my book!
