Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my class love to learn something new each and every day. Students look forward to activities that allow them to have fun while expanding their knowledge in all subjects.
My students love working in small groups and collaborating with others.
My students love to learn and really enjoy hands-on materials that allow them to work at their own pace. They are eager to share results and discuss new discoveries with the other students in the class.
Our school community is located in a high-poverty area and school is a safe haven for my students. All students are given a free breakfast and free lunch every day. The students in my classroom face many challenges on a daily basis, but they enter the classroom with an enthusiasm for learning every day.
My Project
My students are focusing on writing this year and these new materials will help motivate them to write more. Each student will receive a new writing journal and a set of colored pencils to be used for the remainder of the school year. What better way to encourage student writing than receiving their very own set of twistable colored pencils and a new journal. No more waiting for pencils to be sharpened and losing their train of thought. My students will be excited to receive new writing journals that have a small space for drawing on each and every page.
New wave writing will have students writing directly on their desks (covered by dry erase sheets) with their new dual tipped dry erase markers.
Students will be able to communicate through writing without having to pass out the dry erase boards/markers/erasers as each student will have their desk turned into a white board.
Lastly, the headphones will replace the existing headphones in our classroom that are beyond repair.
My students will love receiving these basic supplies to keep them engaged during the second half of the school year.
