Help me give my students a new violin for our orchestra program! We don't have enough violins for everyone who needs one, and the violins we do have are old and run-down. Help us build our inventory!
Our Middle School Orchestra program has grown exponentially in the five years it has existed. Our instrument inventory is made mostly of old, donated instruments from the '70s, and has not had any additions since the program began. As a result, we don't have enough violins to keep up with the program's growth!
The students at our Title I school rely on school instruments for their music education.
Many can't afford to rent or purchase their own instrument, and no student should be turned away from a musical education because of their socioeconomic status. Adding a new, quality violin to our inventory will put another instrument in the hands of a student who needs one, it will improve the sound quality of the entire group, and it will boost morale to have a new instrument in our ensemble made of beaten-up, old ones. We added a new viola to our inventory three years ago, and the impact on the entire ensemble was great, both because of the impact on the group's sound and because of the feeling of worth it gave all the students in the room.
Additionally, because our instruments are reused across school years and because instruments typically have very long lives when cared for well, the addition of this violin will impact not only this year's orchestra students, but students for years and decades to come.
