This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is an inner-city, comprehensive public high school in Richmond, California. Over 85% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and over 95% are students of color.

The challenges many of our students face are profound and many of my students suffer from chronic trauma.

Despite these challenges, my students are driven and determined to gain musical skill and be the best they can be. My students love studying music and their eagerness to learn is a constant source of inspiration. They deserve more.

With your support,​ our music program can become a beacon of lifelong learning and opportunity for our kids and community. Thank you for your support.

My Project

This project seeks to acquire a new trombone for the music program at our high school. Though we have made great progress updating and replacing old instruments, many of the instruments in our inventory, particularly our trombones, are older than your grandad.

With your generous contribution, we will be able to acquire a brand new tenor trombone for our music program.

At our school, we provide ALL of the equipment students need to get a high quality music education: instruments, supplies, sheet music and of course instruction! As a trombonist myself, I know that getting the opportunity to play on a new instrument (as opposed to one that was made during the Eisenhower Administration) has a big impact on one's sound and relationship with the instrument. I am certain that our young trombonists will be thrilled to get to play on a horn that is as shiny and brilliant, and as their futures.
