Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a Special Education classroom; I have 8 kids this year! My students have multiple disabilities, are on the autism spectrum and are developmentally delayed. I want to be able to provide a classroom that is organized and ready to learn in.
All the kids are very sweet, kind, and fun children to work with.
I am honored to have them in my classroom this year and I know we are going to have an amazing year! I want to set my students up for success and in order to do that I want to be able to provide the right supplies for my students in order for them to succeed.
My Project
The materials picked for this project are going to help my students be able to learn in a different way. As a special education teacher it brings me so much joy when I am able to provide activities for my students that are appropriate and will help them develop necessary skills to gain academic achievement.
These hands on activities can become very pricey, with your help we can provide these tools to make learning in our room even more beneficial for my students.
Some activities I have added are math boards to help with learning to count, interactive story telling kits where the kids can manipulate materials while I’m ready, writing boards and flip charts of the alphabet to help with language arts. I have also added a variety of adapted scissors and sensory tools that will be great for students. The materials we have picked are from language arts, math and community worker activities. These materials will help the children learn in a different way for all my students
