Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Learning how to use smart technology is a must for my students. To remain competitive in a quickly changing technological world, my students need every chance they get to learn the latest 'smart' technology. Our district does not provide new technology like this and we really could use it!

My students are 8th graders prepping for their high school years and beyond!

Our school has had three students move on to high school and win Millennium scholarship awards upon graduating. The students are in a close knit community. They know each other and definitely know what these three students received and how it allowed them to go to any college of their choice. These three have provided so much motivation to our students and everyone wants to be the next scholarship awardee. Our school scored above 850 on the national tests. So, as one of the 8th grade teachers, we absolutely love our student body. I want to continue to motivate them and instill a love of math, science, social studies, and English, through challenging and various research projects. My students love to present their projects and our school district does not provide this type of classroom technology. With the right technology to learn with, who knows the heights our students will be able to achieve.

My Project

My students are so motivated to learn new technology and our school does not provide our classrooms with this. Our class loves to work on project based assignments because they know in the end, they get to present their research findings using power point presentations. My students are not shy to talk in front of their peers. So, building their confidence in public speaking, strengthening their organizational skills, their research skills, their writing skills, and reflecting on their experiences, all meet the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS). I would love to receive a classroom set of iPads for student use. We do not have computers or laptops in our classroom!

Your donations will help my class obtain laptops for their research projects, writing projects, and presentation projects.

Currently, we have none to use. Our school has produced three Millennium Scholarship Award winners upon graduating from high school. If the students have done this with little to no technology, what are they truly capable of accomplishing using the latest technology! I want that opportunity for my students. Please help obtain these laptops for my students by donating today.
