As the school library media specialist at an elementary school in Rhode Island, I am able to share all of my resources with all students and faculty. I am requesting a highly useful document camera, to be used in conjunction with our library media and technology lab. This computer lab, which was also established through donations, is the technology center of our school community. My school educates students from throughout Providence, primarily from the Mt. Hope and East Side areas of the city. Most of our students come from financially modest and impoverished backgrounds yet they are enthusiastic to learn and have been very excited to be able to complete projects using technology in our library media lab. Our lab accommodates whole classes and supports individual and small group research projects, especially in social studies and science.

The acquisition of a visual presenter/document camera, specifically the “Teachers’ Tool,” will enable us to expand our knowledge in many ways. The “Teacher’s Tool” allows teachers and students the ability to project three dimensional objects, artwork, diagrams, reading materials, images, and other media to a whole class via a large screen. Students and teachers can read together from a projected document, examine various 3D objects, and study maps and diagrams, etc. There is also a microscope setting, enabling us to view microscopic objects on the “big screen.”

The donation of an Elmo TT-02S Teacher's Tool Document Camera will be great for our school! We are ready to take this next technological step, which will empower our students to use new kinds of information and information technology, and to learn different ways to learn about and present information. The very visual nature of this product is also something our students can use and appreciate.
