Think about how you feel when you are uncomfortable. Can you think about anything other than how uncomfortable you are? Our classroom desks are too small and are so worn down they give you slivers and our chairs are too small for us. We need new furniture to provide a better learning environment!
My students are wonderful kids.
They work hard and are eager to learn. We live in a rural part of Utah and our school sometimes lacks in your everyday classroom supplies. Right now we are in desperate need of new desks and chairs in our classroom. Our desks we have now have started to wear down around the edges and if you aren't careful you can get a sliver. My second grade students are too tall to fit comfortably in the desks that we have now. The chairs are mismatched and all different sizes and some of the chairs have been there for far too long and need to be replaced. It is hard to put your focus on learning when your circulation in your legs is being cut off or you are worried about getting a sliver in your arm while you're working on math! Simply put, my students are just too uncomfortable to learn!
My Project
With these new tables and chairs in our room we will be able to turn our focus on learning. The tables will be a major improvement compared to what we have now. Our desks are old and worn down around the edges. The desks are also too small for my students and they are hard to sit in. With the chair pockets, my students will be able to keep their materials organized since we won't have the storage in our desks. With this new furniture my students focus will go from trying to find a comfortable position to learning, which is what it should be at school!
If we can get new furniture then my students will be able to turn their focus to learning.
Right now they feel squished with desks and chairs that are far too small for second graders. WIth new tables and chairs, we won't have to worry about worn down desks and slivers and tiny chairs. We will be able to be comfortable in our classroom and it will provide an optimal learning environment for my students.
