Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are inquisitive learners. They love to learn and try their best. They are caring and kind towards each other. They come from Hispanic households in which family is an important part of one's identity. Therefore, our classroom family is also an important part of their learning environment.

These students attend a low-income school in Chicago.

We strive to encourage their academic development but also their social and emotional needs. Sometimes it is hard to meet their needs based on the resources we have so as educators we have to be as creative as possible.

These children are so excited to learn and are so responsible with the materials that they have. They understand that it is a privilege to have the resources that they do have and therefore it is their responsibility to take care of them.

My Project

One of the biggest issues during the school year is having the right supplies in order to enhance our teaching and our student's learning. One of the biggest issues is the time that is waisted due to pencil sharpening. Therefore, this year I want to switch over to mechanical pencils in order to eliminate the time for sharpening.

Another important aspect of the classroom is having anchor charts so that students can reused them to review their learning.

During the course of the year multiple paper charts are used therefore they are important to showcase work.

We use flexible seating in our classroom; where student can sit where ever they want in order to enhance their work ethic. The inflatable balls will help with our flexible seating options. All these materials will allow our classroom to start the year prepared.
