This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In the last few weeks my class size has increased by 7 students and we are in need of additional supplies. My students use their dry erase boards and plastic dry erase sleeves everyday and that means we always need dry erase markers.
Students need new dry erase boards and chiseled dry erase markers to use during our phonics and math lessons.
In order to practice their best handwriting, the chiseled markers work the best for my students small hands. Our phonics program teaches students how to properly form all letters. We also use the markers during math class and need the markers when they are writing on laminated number lines and number bonds.
In addition, the writing paper will help my students practice letter formation and writing neatly. The lines on the paper are the perfect height for beginner writers. The pencils will be used throughout the day from writing, to reading responses to math.
Our school community is located in a high-poverty area and the school is a safe haven for my students. I am so proud of the effort the students make every day despite everything that they have experienced in their young lives. Engagement and focus are keywords in our changing learning environment.
