Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second grade students are part of a dual-language program in Philadelphia. My students come from economically disadvantaged households and are eager to learn. My students are 71% latino, 18% African American, 7% White, 0.4% Asian, and 4% other multicultural groups.

I teach Literacy, Math, and Science in English to two classes of bilingual children.

The other half of the day they learn Literacy, Math, and Social Studies in Spanish. They are an extremely energetic and funny bunch, and they deserve access to the most amazing tools!

My Project

My old classroom easel recently went kaput and we desperately need a new one for our mini lessons and anchor charts. This easel has storage bins for all our supplies and wheels to easily roll it to the side when not in use.

We also need to refresh some supplies for spring that we use for writing, reading, and math.

My students need more dry erase markers for our guided math lessons, more index cards for our rapidly growing word wall, and timers for our reading fluency practice! These supplies will be used everyday by my students in our centers and whole group lessons.
