This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The 200 music students at our school are an incredible group of respectful and talented young musicians who love playing their instruments. They participate in one of 5 ensembles at the school . We play several concerts throughout the year and also take field trips to perform at festivals and events.

My students are very enthusiastic, eager to learn, and enjoy taking on challenges.

I appreciate how hard-working they are, and how as a music program, we truly are a big family. Everyday I see these students helping each other, motivating each other, and just so eager to achieve their goals.

I have seen them grow into great student leaders who feel it is their responsibility to keep our music program growing and strong! They truly care. These students are part of an academically challenging and ethnically diverse Title I school which serves almost two thousand students.

My Project

Many of the string instruments we have are in need of new strings.

Strings wear out over time and make it difficult to play with a proper tone quality.

The strings we have on our instruments are many years old and also starting to rust and pop more often.

New strings will help improve the sound of the instruments that students play. Also, replacing strings is a necessary part of any orchestra program. Strings break sometimes during rehearsal and need to be replaced.

The strings I am requesting are quality strings that will hold up for a long time with much student use. Our students will hear the difference in their sound after playing on new strings and feel good about their tone quality. This will help keep our orchestra students focused on improving their sound and motivated to practice! Our students will be very thankful if you can help us finish this project. Thank you for your support of our music program.
