My Students

This year I am proud to be the team leader at my school. This means the world to me as this was my elementary school. As their coach/leader, I can experience so many of the different learning environments.

Seeing so many of my students every morning with the eagerness to learn has shown me that this has been the best professional decision I have made in my career.

I know that this year will be one for the record books not only for all the students and teachers but for me as well because we will work together as a village to make magic once again this year.

Our school is located in a low-economic neighborhood where about 90% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many come from broken homes that have been separated because of their dream to come to the United States or because of natural disasters. Some of the students in my school suffer from attention deficit disorder (ADHD), are ESL students (English as a second language), and/or have other types of special needs. Regardless of their challenges, though, the majority of the students are very determined and eager to succeed.

My Project

My project goal is to provide my students with the basic classroom supplies they need in order to thrive academically and address their specific special needs. My diverse group of students comes to school on a daily basis ready and eager to learn, however many of them lack the basic school supplies needed in order to accomplish their objectives.

I wish to provide my students with basic supplies such as composition notebooks, pencils, paper and inspirational decals in order to successfully engage in writing passages in response to racial equity related prompts and engage in the STEAM projects that give the kiddos authentic opportunities to make their voices heard in an effort to break down systemic oppression.

These materials will be used to motivate our kiddos and as they engage in their academic endeavors and promote a culture of racial equity by engaging in inquiry based learning activities that elevate students' voices and experiences.

Basic classroom supplies are essential in a classroom in order to promote a successful academic environment.

Having the right supplies and materials is essential. When it comes to your classroom, the smallest details make the biggest difference. By having the necessary supplies, the students will be able to excel academically, address their specific special needs and will increase their studying skills. The requested materials will allow all students to be actively engaged in their learning as they focus on the task at hand.
