New Special Education Classroom Needs Supplies

My students need an At-My-Desk Vocabulary Activity Library and Comprehension Concepts Teaching Centers.

My Students

Can you imagine being a student and struggling to read and comprehend the reading materials at your grade level? Everything looks confusing and this would cause you to be scared and embarrassed.

My students are all struggling readers who come from low-income homes.

They are very interested in learning, but they also struggle with multiple disabilities which causes them to "shut down". These students want to work independently so badly! They need lots of fun, stimulating activities that can help them practice their vocabulary and comprehension skills and help them reach their goals.

My Project

These comprehension activities teach the students specific skills (such as using context clues, cause and effect, etc). Once they have learned these skills, they will be able to use them to understand any reading material in any subject they are struggling in. The vocabulary activities help them learn strategies for breaking words down to sound them out independently. They also help them learn to use suffixes and prefixes which helps them learn the meanings and be able to learn new words quicker!

I can only imagine what it is like not being able to read...It must be confusing, frustrating and scary.

Your donations can help these students stay focused and find reading to be a fun activity! I hope to improve the reading fluency and comprehension of my students so that we can give them a better quality of life! Thank you for your time and consideration!
