This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I currently have a mix of different desks in my classroom. They are all different sizes and after having some repairs done to them, I can no longer adjust the size. Teaching 5th grades mean I have kids of all different sizes and being able to adjust the height of their desk is important. My students need to be comfortable in order to engage in their best learning. I am also asking for new chairs. Over time, some of our chair legs have started to bend. This really makes the chair unsafe for students to sit in. We already had one unfortunate accident this year when a chair leg collapsed when one of my students sat down. Luckily, he was not seriously injured.
My students spend the majority of their day in school with me and I want them to be comfortable.
I have worked hard to create a safe and engaging learning enviroment for them. Before the year started, I painted our classroom using a calming color. I hung string lights all around the ceiling. We have plants in our classroom that add to our calming environment. New desks and chairs would complete our classroom.
