Grit, if you ask any one of my 5th graders what I hope they will learn this year, it is just that--Grit. Grit is the ability to persevere when challenged, continue to try even after failing over and over, and embracing mistakes. These kids do that, and more, each and every day.
In our classroom, we don't let hard work stand in our way; we embrace it.
We know that making mistakes is part of our journey. These fabulous 5th graders come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, each facing numerous challenges each day. Yet, somehow they are able to leave everything else at the door and impress me every day.
I am so proud of these hard-working kids. I can't wait to see what creations, discoveries, and inventions are in store in for their future.
My Project
Every year students come to school with some basic supplies to support their learning. Many students struggle with some of the bigger items on our supply list.
My goal is to help all my students have the materials they need to succeed.
With your help I will be able to have my classroom ready for the new school year and my students in need will have one less thing to worry about.
With the funding of this project I will be able to get headphones for computer time for students that don't have any. I will be able to get supply boxes so that students do not need to share supplies, and erasers to fix our mistakes. I will be able to get dry erase pockets and dry erase erasers so that we can do math work without wasting paper, and treats to reward stellar problem solving. I will also be able to give each student a zipper pouch to keep all the books they are borrowing from our classroom library safe as they take them home.
