Help me give my students a start to the new school year with notebooks, folders, crayons, pencils and other school supplies that we need to work successfully.
The students at our school are amazing! They arrive excited to learn and become involved in whatever topic that is in the plan. We have wonderful support from our parents. We have a very diverse population of students, culturally, economically, and with different learning abilities. It has become my goal to try and stay ahead of them!
Even though our society is becoming more technologically aware, our students still need paper, pencils and other supplies to function throughout a normal school day.
My Project
Some students have whatever they may need to start school, while others come with empty hands. Even though the students at our school wear uniforms, there is an obvious economic difference in each classroom at the start of the year when some come in with fancy pencil cases and the 64 pack of crayons, and others with nothing.
My goal is to create an environment of equality.
Each student will have access to the same supplies, from pencils to folders to access to crayons and paint. This past year the students learned to share their supplies. A bonus for me, as the teacher, is that I know their supplies will fit into their desks without being stuffed in or falling on the floor. I want my students to have to worry about learning their math facts and the names of the continents, and not whether or not they have a pencil to use.
