My students need math manipulatives, such as Learning Resources Hands-On Dot Dice Bucket and Magnetic Ten Frame Boards and stories such as DO NOT Build a Frankenstein, Boomer's Big Day and Itchy, Itch Chickenpox, for their classroom. I recently changed schools and grade levels and need to purchase items for my new room.
My students are amazing. They come to school ready and eager to learn. My students love to read books and to learn math skills for everyday life. They are anxious to apply what they are learning to everyday life.
My students come from varying backgrounds.
Our school population however has many low income families. Some of these students are entering school with little to no previously acquired knowledge when it comes to letters and numbers. My school is a starting point for most of these kids' educational experience.
My Project
My students need math manipulatives, such as Learning Resources Hands-On Dot Dice Bucket and Magnetic Ten Frame Boards and stories such as DO NOT Build a Frankenstein, Boomer's Big Day and Itchy, Itch Chickenpox, for their classroom. I recently relocated to a new school and county. With this new transition I also took on the challenge of trying a new grade level. I was a teacher that was added to a grade level due to large number of students. My classroom was a blank canvas. My previous experience was in another grade. The items that I have requested would be used in math and literacy centers. These items we currently do not have. I am currently having to borrow from other teachers. I'd like to have these items available to use at all times.
These items will help improve learning environment in my classroom.
These will be used often to utilize learning. The dice and ten frame are used frequently while teaching, math fluency with addition and subtraction. The numbers trace and write will encourage practice in writing their numbers correctly. The books will be used in reading groups and whole group instruction. Every student will gain a boost up!
