This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the most loving beings. What is unique about the students I teach is when you tell them to be kind, it comes as second nature. They ooze joy and excitement for learning and are always eager to know more. They make teaching an easy job to wake up for every morning. My students also come from many diverse backgrounds. The school I teach at is eighty-six percent free or reduced price lunch. I have not yet had a class where even half pay for their lunch. They lack books, pencils, pens, papers, or scissors to use at home. Allowing them to take home a book or even a pencil would make a tremendous difference in their academic and home connection to school life. Raising and teaching children takes a village and it takes more than a teacher and a school! Please, help be the difference in these students' lives so they can someday make a difference in ours.

My Project

The student families I teach are trying to make ends meet. This lifestyle leaves little to no money for materials to support their students' learning. These families love their kids and want to help. I love these families and want to help. With your help, we can create the ability for Lexington students to have books of their own. This ownership can create readers to the next level. The only way to get better at reading is enriching instruction and practice, practice, and more practice. Help my students love to read by having books of their own to take home!
