Help me give my students these amazing parts storage bin, headphones, and metallic sharpies in order to help our LEGO robotics team meet our challenges and compete at local competitions.
Technology is the future. Our school is made up of six hundred children from a mix of backgrounds. These kids have huge dreams and can accomplish so much. They really do have bright minds and just need a little help to get the tools in their hands to prove it. I have decided to turn my Computer Lab into a STEM lab for every grade level, K-5 that will come to my room. I am in need of enriching STEM materials to use to teach the design process and critical thinking.
Our campus is new this school year so it's extra tough on our kiddos.
Imagine dealing with the school shutdowns in the Spring of 2020 and opening a new building with not many other children you know from your previous campus.
We have secured several different types of devices for our Maker Space Labs. The kids and I both are super excited to start using them. One of the challenges we face is sound. I am creating this project to supply my classroom with headphones that will last longer than the generic ones that are purchased for schools. These headphones will be used in a lab setting.
My Project
I am used to having four or five robotics teams on campus and all of them have had success with coding, design, engineering, and collaboration over the years. However, this year I have decided it would be a great idea to not just double but to triple the number of teams to 15! This means that instead of having 30 students I now have 90 that take part in my program.
While that is great and amazing it created a need for better storage and other needed items.
This parts bin would be a huge help to keep these many, many, many LEGO pieces in. The sharpie will be used to help design, decorate, and identify many different items and robots that we use. The headphones and microphones incorporate into the coding pieces and software used. The rope lights will be used during the competition to mark our area and as a signal to our teams to alert them to the different tasks they need to complete.
