Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a Dual Language school in Washington, D.C. We are a second grade class with children from all different cultural backgrounds. They are a great group of kids! They are very enthusiastic, have loads of energy and have kind, caring hearts.
Like typical second graders, they love playing outside, sports, dance, arts and we pride ourselves in creating a love for reading and writing from a very young age.
Therefore, our students need new and high interest books to keep them engaged. They are excited for this new school year!
My Project
Our teaching centers around Dual Language and teaching a love for reading. We also focus on bilingualism and biliteracy.
Our second graders need more Spanish series books which are tough to find and they need book baggies so they can take books home so they can continue learning at home as well.
This has been specially difficult without proper book baggies that keep breaking on us. The seat sacks will help with transitions from library to seat and vice-versa.
These second graders, from different multicultural backgrounds, are craving awesome Spanish series books. Help provide this to our hungry-for-more readers! We are forever thankful for your help.
