My Project
Our Track team is really in need of new pole vault poles (10'8 for 120 pounds, 11'6 for 130 pounds, 12'1 for 140 pounds). We currently do not have safe poles to practice with. Track is not a mainstream sport, so our budget to buy equipment is very limited. Something like new pole vault poles (10'8 for 120 pounds, 11'6 for 130 pounds, 12'1 for 140 pounds) are very tough purchases especially for a small program like ours. Having new poles (10'8 for 120 pounds, 11'6 for 130 pounds, 12'1 for 140 pounds) would help our team prevent injuries during practices because it would allow us to not have to use our old poles are getting unsafe to use. Our team works hard year-round to be the best they can be, and we want to show our students that all of their hard work was worth it. The new pole vault poles (10'8 for 120 pounds, 11'6 for 130 pounds, 12'1 for 140 pounds) would give our kids the confidence to go harder in practices and not worry about getting hurt. It would also give us the opportunity to host track meets, which could generate much-needed funds for our program. The new pole vault poles could also help our team grow due to providing more equipment to practice with. This project is important to me because I want to give the kids confidence and pride in themselves and their hard work. Giving them the tools and resources to help them succeed is my goal. Track is not a very glamorous sport, especially in high school where sometimes kids tease them for being on the team. So anything we can do for the kids to make it more enjoyable is a top priority.
