My Students
My band students are creative learners who seek different outlets for displaying their artistic and creative sides. They understand and present their musical mastery by creating thoughtful projects on Soundtrap and instrumental performance.
I find that my students thrive in an atmosphere where they can be challenged to think critically, collaborate with their peers and to develop their social skills.
My challenge, as a teacher is to provide a rigorous learning environment that also fosters empathy, development of their individuality, and a sense of unity to prepare them for the future. They provide me the opportunity to adapt every single day!
My Project
These percussion instruments an mallets would greatly help out our band! We currently have a wobbly xylophone with worn down bars, zero yarn mallets and two ride cymbals that we are using as crash cymbals. With new percussion instruments and mallets, we can replace our old equipment and play diverse and challenging music. This project is phase one of replacing our percussion instruments. For this phase, I am requesting four yarn mallets, a gong sheet (for an upcoming piece this year), and a pair of crash cymbals.
Students who play on new and working instruments enjoy playing in band.
I believe that all students in the beginning stage of band deserve to play on well working instruments to properly learn how the instrument should sound, feel, and play. Students who play on broken instruments have a compromised learning experience.
