This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The great news in that students in my class this year have a love of great stories. This isn't true every year and so I am so thrilled. We have done two novel studies as a class, Sounder and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and they've loved them. In order to differentiate to the variety of learning needs among my students, I'd like to offer some of my more confident readers the opportunity to do a small group book club. This will be made up of a student leader and 3 other students that meet twice a week-once with me and once without. I am so excited for this opportunity and for a couple students to get a chance to do some leading.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough copies of any books to have more than one student reading it at a time.

Students who are eligible for book club have selected the prequel and sequel to Lion, Witch, Wardrobe as their choices. Your help with this project will provide books for 2 groups to get started on a this new endeavor. Additionally, the other books in this project will be for a group of newer English language learners to practice their reading in English, using high-interest graphic novels.
