This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My goal is to eventually have a classroom full of full-size 88-key weighted digital pianos. My students currently practice on small, 61-key unweighted keyboards that are not sufficient for developing technique. The smaller size means a lot of repertoire is not possible since more advanced piano repertoire uses the 88-note range of a full-sized piano.

My students love collaborating on piano pieces, which is most possible on the larger digital pianos.

My students are constantly drawn to the few of these pianos we already have. They love the feel and are more excited than ever to come to piano class to play these pianos. Obtaining an additional piano increases my students' engagement, enthusiasm, and learning.
