My Students

Our school is a neighborhood school serving approximately 900 students. Our students are from diverse backgrounds and speak a variety of languages. Our students are motivated to learn and look forward to coming to school every day. We also have a very experienced and loyal staff who care for our students and create a nurturing environment conducive to learning.

We are excited about the growth our students have made over the past five years in reading since implementing Reader's and Writer's Workshop.

We want to continue to maximize their learning and need a few supplies to help do this.

My Project

I am requesting National Geographic Kids books on a variety of topics and levels for my students. We have just started on unit on nonfiction and we are already in love with the layout and text features that these books provide. My students have already read the ones that we have in our classroom and are begging for more.

The goal for our nonfiction unit is to read to learn.

By providing my students with more nonfiction texts to read, you will be providing them with a wealth of knowledge! As we progress through the unit, we will be creating our own books and the National Geographic Kids books are great mentor texts for students to use when designing their own books.
