Our school is located in San Miguel, CA. Many of our students are English Language Learners. I am the librarian at this K-8 elementary school in a low income and somewhat rural area.
Our students are passionate about reading and stretching their reading comprehension.
Many of our students do not have access to books at home and rely on our school library to check out high interest, reading level appropriate books. They are constantly looking for new books on facts!
Our students in grades TK-8 have been visiting a library that has not changed much in 30 years. That is all about to change!
Lillian Larsen school is currently working to give our school's library a complete makeover by replacing old books and purchasing new and exciting editions to keep our students excited about reading.
The new books we will be purchasing will be about animals, science and may also include a set of books about each state. Our students love reading about factual things, events and ideas. By having place to put our new books we will be giving students an organized and accessable place to stretch their reading skills.
