My Students

We are a public Montessori school in downtown Indianapolis.

Our Montessori students in 6th & 7th grade are very curious about the world around them.

Most of our students have been together for all of their school aged years.

They are very social individuals who share their knowledge and always like to learn more. Their minds are like sponges, and they want to soak up as much information as they can. They like discussing different issues in the world around them.

My Project

We have a lot of Waseca materials in our classroom and in our school. These two materials have been just created from Waseca and would be a great addition to our classroom and our school. The Seasons Mat demonstrates the effects that the Earth’s tilt and the length of the Sun’s rays have on on Earth: Seasons! The Rock Cycle mat demonstrates Layers of the Earth, Tectonic Plates, the Rock Cycle, and Parts of a Volcano. Students track the formation of rocks from magma through igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic processes on the mat. Both these mats would enhance learning in these two areas of science. For example the Rock Cycle mat comes with cards and grammar labels which will aid the students to label parts and form sentences about the new vocabulary they are learning. They would add to the units in science that are studied throughout the school year.
