New MESA Class for Middle School (Math, Engineering, and Science)

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am planning to introduce a MESA class for our 7th- and 8th-grade students. Students will build projects in teams of 2 or 3 students and participate in prelims and regional competitions that are held at different colleges through the MESA organization. My students will have all the tools to safely work on STEM projects. This type of hands-on experience will help my students become Math, Science, and Engineering enthusiasts. A survey we did at our school a few years ago found that only 5 percent of students like Math. This class should change that. With the hot glue guns, double sided tape, and other items that I am requesting will help support my students to create STEM projects.
