New Media Center Battles Old Temperamental LCD Projector

My students need an LCD projector to assist in meeting learning objectives through a variety of multimedia lessons.

My Students

Help my students win the war against an old temperamental LCD projector that often puts the "lights out" on multimedia lessons.

My students range in grade levels from prekindergarten to fifth grade.

They are predominantly African American with growing Caucasian, Asian American, and Hispanic populations. Over seventy percent of students attending this city public school qualify for free and or reduced lunch.

My Project

A new LCD projector would be "lights on" to multimedia motivational activities and lessons. Connected to a document camera, during a picture walk of a new book, all of the kindergartners would be able to see the enlarged picture at the same time as they talk about what they see in the illustration and make predictions about what will happen in the story. Older students would be engaged by educational PowerPoint presentations, videos clips and information directly from the Internet. They would work in cooperative groups as they collaborate to construct and present their own multimedia presentations. The students will learn valuable technology and communications skills.

No longer would my students be "in the dark" or limited in the use of multimedia activities and lessons due to an old faulty LCD projector.

No longer would my students have to crowd around a book to see the illustrations or a computer monitor to view a PowerPoint presentation or information on a Website. A new LCD projector would aid in engaging student centered lessons and activities that would increase my students' opportunities to learning.
