My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds, and they all learn in their own, specific way.
For some of these children, it is their first experience being away from home and in a school setting! We learn through a variety of methods - all hands-on and engaging. Science, social studies, reading, writing, math, and how to play with each other and work in a group are all part of our school day.
My kiddos are growing and learning in a small, tight knit school community where everyone knows their name. They are questioners, thinkers, talkers, movers and shakers!
My Project
Kindergarten children come into school curious and excited with the natural intent to play and learn. Currently in my classroom, I have manipulatives that are old and broken, and need to be either re-purposed or passed on. They are no longer usable for my classroom!
I have chosen the Magna Tiles as a new toy for the class to play with, not only because children are able to build and develop cognitive and social skills, but also for children who have difficulty with small motor skills.
For these children, Magna Tiles are the perfect manipulative for success with building, as they are easily put together and taken apart.
I have also chosen the Wooden Snap-N-Play blocks because although I currently have a set in my classroom, they are old and the snaps frequently fall off (despite my constantly fixing them) leaving exposed screws. This is typically a favorite choice every school year as the children create robots and flowers, cars and rockets.
