Launching the Maker Space Flight Lab: Inspiring Future Innovators!
I am thrilled to introduce a new elective class coming to our school next year—the Maker Space Flight Lab!
This hands-on course will give students the opportunity to explore aerodynamics, engineering, and creative problem-solving as they design and build flight-based projects. My students are naturally curious, innovative, and eager to engage in real-world STEM challenges, and this class will allow them to do just that!
To bring this vision to life, we need essential materials like STEM kits and Legos that will enable students to construct models of aircraft, rockets, and other flight-related structures. These hands-on resources will allow them to experiment with key STEM concepts such as thrust, lift, and aerodynamics while also fostering teamwork, critical thinking, and perseverance.
My goal for this project is to create a dynamic, interactive learning environment where students can design, test, and refine their ideas—just like real engineers and inventors! Many of my students do not have access to engineering tools outside of school, so this elective will provide an exciting and accessible way to develop their problem-solving skills and spark a passion for STEM fields.
