Help me give my students the option for flexible seating with the Lakeshore Flex-Space. I would like to create our school library a place for them to read and work at their own comfort!
I will be the new teacher librarian at our elementary school, which I have been both a 2nd and 5th grade teacher. On top of being the new teacher librarian this coming Fall, we are also fortunate to have a renovated media center/library with a brand new Maker Space.
I will be teaching the whole school which is roughly about 600 students.
These students have the opportunity to visit the library once a week and times after school. The items that I have requested (acrylic frames and bins) will benefit my students when it comes to book shopping and checking out their books. You may be wondering how? These acrylic frames will hold up the genre posters above each book shelf. For example, the "Humor" poster can be protected in the frame and students will have an easy way to find the funny books with these frames. As for the bins, these will too be an easy way for students to see books when titles are facing them, rather than seeing only the spine. My goal is for my students to find books independently and efficiently. They only get around 5-7 minutes to book shop when they visit me, so this will definitely help them.
Lastly, the flex seating would be a great way for my students to have options when working or reading their books. I've noticed when my students have seating choices they are more engaged and some even appreciate having that quiet time away from their table group.
I just know these new items would be a great addition to our brand new library! My students, as well as myself, would greatly appreciate all of them!
