Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach grades 9-12 in an inner city high school, and I love my students dearly! They each have such unique personalities and humors that they bring into my classroom. Many of them are quiet but with the biggest hearts you'll ever meet. The ones that aren't quiet, you can hear coming down the hall from a mile away. They kept me involved in their lives and they were always so polite whenever they join or leave my classroom for the day. I even still have my previous year's students popping in to say hi once a week!
Something I am trying to instill into my students is a love of books and reading!
I love being able to submit a request for books and watch the looks on my students faces when they open the boxes and I say, "These books were donated for YOU!" I love to make personalized requests for books once I get to know my students, but since I'm moving into a classroom with no books on the bookshelves, these will definitely help fill in the empty spaces until I can start to build the collection in my new classroom.
