NEW Kindergarten Class

My students need three carpets for adequate space during learning time. The classroom is in a portable and surrounded by dirt; more comfortable carpets will enhance the room.

My Students

Five years old students love learning in comfort. An area rug with space to fit an entire classroom of students is nonexistent. Also, two other rugs for center areas that are designated learning spots. This request is a necessity.

This charter school is a highly successful community-centered, education program.

Since 1997, this charter school has provided Kauai's island-wide community with programs designed to improve the educational achievements of our youth and families through Hawaiian culture and nature based programs. Project-based learning approach provides all students the opportunity to develop their unique capabilities in a variety of content areas and at the appropriate and challenging levels of learning. Through practical applications of academic, technical, and cultural subject areas, students are prepared for life after high school, as they develop their ability to walk successfully in multiple worlds. Ability-based academic workshops further enhance multi-age projects, focusing directly on learner strengths and needs.

My Project

I believe classroom design is important for creating a good learning environment. Warm, well-run classrooms begin with the room's physical layout; the arrangement of desks and working space, the attractiveness and appeal of bulletin boards, the storage of materials and in my style of instruction, I need a functional carpet rug. Each student will have their own space where they can keep hands and feet out of another space. The other 2 carpets will be placed in learning centers.

The lessons and activities that take place on the carpet are an essential component to my kindergarteners learning experience.

Carpet activities help build a strong and caring classroom community and help refocus students' attention. A carpet with clearly delineated seating areas will help my students know where to sit so that they can focus best on the lessons and activities. The rugs for learning centers will provide a designated spot for learning that is comfortable.
