New Keyboards for Piano Class

My Students

Sometimes, I think our little music program is the best-kept secret in our town. I've been very fortunate to be able to build a fantastic band and percussion program at this school. Students are able to choose to play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument, and I get to teach them for all three years of their middle school experience.

Although I've been teaching for a long time, I will never get tired of seeing the look on a student's face when they hear themselves playing music on an instrument.

I also love helping students move from nervous beginners to excited intermediate players to confident veterans, playing quality music in groups and as soloists along the way.

My Project

We are so excited to have all of our students back in the building this year, especially because their return also signals the return of INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC! Last year our students studied music history and digital music composition in remote classes, but I know nothing can replace the thrill and joy of learning to play an instrument.

Our beloved concert band program is on pause for another year, so we've begun our first-ever Piano Class!

Somehow we crammed twenty-four portable piano keyboards into our band room, and it is remarkable to see how well our students have transitioned from, for example, the trombone to the piano!

Most of our piano keyboards are in great shape, but six of them are old and ailing. Four of them were already at the school when I took the job THIRTEEN YEARS ago, so it's remarkable that they've lasted as long as they have. Your generous support will help to replace these old warhorses and insure that all of our students have quality instruments to learn and perform with.
