This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We have recently acquired new instruments! Now we need the supplies that make them "playable!"
These students are 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students who live in the Washington, D.C.
metropolitan area. They have committed to a rigorous instrumental music program that has grown substantially in the past few years. They are excited to learn about new instruments and styles of music.
My Project
Our school was just the recipient of a generous donation that provided a new oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, and tenor saxophone. These instruments all need supplies to get started making music! The reeds, and straps are essential to successful study. We can't wait to put these instruments to good use!
These supplies will help the students have access to instruments that are not seen or heard very often at the elementary level.
The chance to play these instruments provides students with more performance opportunities in their musical careers.
