You know those quirky kids, the ones who want to know-and ask,"WHY?" or "HOW?" THOSE are MY kids.
I work with the most amazing students.
Once again, I've landed in a new school. My current location has over 100 gifted/talented students, and a second teacher was called in-ME. I will be working with grades 1-5 this year, and am so excited to be teaching Gifted Ed. full time again.
Because I have had experience in building a STEAM Lab, it was decided that our gifted/talented will spend half their resource day with me. However, since materials purchased at one school stay at that school, I am faced with the challenge of rebuilding and replacing some of the most incredible materials.
So, here I am again, hat in hand, trying to fund great materials for my wonderful students.
I have used little Bits (yes, 'small l') for several years and have watched my students build and create things they have planned out; they LOVE anything robot related, and I would love to get Lego Robotics materials for them to learn how to create their own robots.
Gifted students are often overlooked; these are the kids who are not "at-risk" during high stakes testing.
We know they will be "fine." But, is "fine" what we really want? Gifted kids have special needs, and it has been my mission to help meet them.
