My Students

I have future scientists, veterinarians, and teachers, all who learn in English and Spanish. My school is a Title l school and follows the dual language immersion model for bilingual instruction. My students started their education in Kindergarten with all instruction in Spanish and this will be the first year to introduce literacy skills in English. I have 50% native English speakers and 50% native Spanish speakers and we have a great community of encouragement and teamwork.

My students have been learning together since Kindergarten so they are a very close-knit bunch; sometimes it feels like I am teaching siblings more than just classmates.

My Project

In third grade, we use our Chromebooks for a variety of learning. From practicing math facts to reading online, my students are learning to use technology to take their studies to the next level.

The problem is that the headphones in my classroom are in very poor shape.

Many students have broken headphones that only work on one side, others are missing the ear pads, and others have to hold the headphones to their head because the band that goes over their head is broken.

I want to upgrade the headphones that are available to my third-grade class. Having a high quality and durable headphones will be so exciting for my students. Not only will it enhance their learning and concentration, but it sends them the message that they are important and deserve high-quality tools in the classroom.
