Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year, I am moving up to fifth grade! My classroom will feel like a second home to twenty-five students from diverse ethnic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds. Although over eighty percent of our population receives free or reduced price lunch, this does not define their entire identity. As I transition between rooms and grade levels, my love for teaching remains unchanged, and I continue to create a learning environment where students can be vulnerable, creative, and active participants in their education.
No matter the day or personal circumstances, my students arrive prepared to give their best, which is reflected in how they show up and express themselves.
These new resources, a lap desk, paper and a shelf, will serve as an anchor for each student to explore new paths of learning and encourage them to be critical thinkers and lifelong learners. No learner is ever done growing, regardless of their stage, and their strengths act as catalysts to unlock new learning experiences. Fifth grade is the peak of elementary school, and I aim to provide a classroom where students feel confident to transition into their middle school years.
