My Students

Each year my class is composed of a group of caring, funny, spunky, and kind students. They are very diverse; many students having special needs and most are English language learners. They all come from very different cultural backgrounds and home environments. One thing they all have in common is their growing curiosity and willingness to learn.

They inspire me to be the best teacher I can be and, because of them, I strive to give them the most memorable school experience possible.

My Project

After teaching 1st grade for five years, this upcoming 2021-2022 school year I will be teaching Kindergarten! It has been a while since I last taught K and a lot has changed, especially the curriculum!

It is of great importance to me that I have the proper supplies and curriculum resources so that I am best prepared to teach my students.

Moving grades means inheriting old teaching supplies from other teachers. Often times this means materials may be old and quite worn out, sets are missing books, etc. Additionally, these past teachers have used one-time-only codes that unlock a world of online resources; however, I cannot access these materials now. I am also teaching in an ICT classroom which means two teachers and one set of books! One set of books is not sufficient for multiple teachers who are learning the curriculum and new to the grade.

I plan to use these books to study, learn and plan the curriculum that I will be teaching my students for the most fundamental areas: reading and writing. Additionally, I will be using materials such as books, posters, and flashcards with my students during instruction each day.
