Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Gardening engages students in real-world applications of biology, ecology, and earth sciences. It combines science, technology, engineering, and math in a natural setting and teaches sustainability, conservation, and the importance of biodiversity. Gardening helps students understand where food comes from and promotes healthy eating habits. It encourages collaboration and responsibility in maintaining the garden while promoting physical activity and reducing screen time, benefiting students' mental health.

A garden science program for K-6 students offers several key benefits by encouraging curiosity and exploration, making science fun and relatable.

Planting, weeding, and harvesting activities help younger students develop fine motor coordination. Gardening engages multiple senses (sight, touch, smell), enhancing learning through experience and helps students understand ecosystems, plant life cycles, and food chains from an early age. It also teaches students to care for plants over time, fostering patience and accountability.
