My third graders are very sweet, love to have fun, enjoy being active, and are generous and kind. They love to sit on the floor, in flexible seating, move around, and prefer learning with hands-on materials that allow them to engage directly with the material!
These portable desks provide several different flexible seating options for students while they are reading and writing.
They can be used with a standard chair, on the floor, or with a cushion to provide the most comfortable, yet practical, seating solution for each student. Students often ask to sit on the floor, but our phonics curriculum requires frequent use of manipulatives (soundboard and chips) and our reading and writing curriculums require students to frequently write or type responses while reviewing a text. This can be very challenging while sitting on the floor without a large, flat surface.
I have been using these desks with small groups for four years now, and the students absolutely love them! These additional ten desks will create enough to allow each student in the entire class the option of using one! The storage rack will also be the perfect size to store all of my current and new surf desks.
