Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! I get the honor of teaching media to students ranging from Pre K through 4th grade. In my classroom I make it a mission to teach them the fundamentals of Media and exposing them to different styles of media. We learn to express ourselves through different styles of media. I encourage imagination, creativity, and expression.
Most of the students that I teach come from low-income families.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I've heard many family stories and struggles and know that not all students have the same home life as a typical home life. In my classroom, I teach them that what they are going through doesn't define them and that media is an amazing opportunity that many students don't have to express themselves and be recognized by their hard efforts.
My Project
My students come from low income families and some were even affected by Hurricane Harvey. My dream is to expose my students to a new style of creativity. By providing my students with these items I can show them the art of photography and videography. My students would most likely be exposed to this style of creativity if it wasn't for our school. I want to take our program to anew level by teaching our students different techniques of interview and expression.
We celebrate diversity and individuality at our school, what better way to show it, than with photography and videography.
We will use these items to learn basic interview skills and how to conduct and shoot interviews, using the mic and backdrop. Students will be able to create and make their projects come alive. Help our students be exposed to new ways of creativity.
