My Students
Our classroom is a pre-k class for children with special needs and typically developing children in an inner city school district. We have a full day class that is in session Monday through Friday.
Half of my students are 3-4 years old with a variety of disabilities.
The other half are typically developing students that will transition to kindergarten for the next school year.
They love to build with blocks, work on floor puzzles, read books, explore art materials and interact with a variety of other materials. Many of my students have very limited language skills and social interaction skills.
My students all receive free breakfast and lunch and many receive food bags donated by a local church to take home each week for the weekends.
My Project
We are on the carpet all day in our pre-k class. We are currently sitting on fraying carpets that are over 20+ years old. Our children build with blocks on the floor, play with puzzles, read books all on the floor and need an appropriate safe area! We dance and crawl on the floor.
The health department made us throw away a carpet this year because it was so old.
Our children deserve a comfy carpet to sit on and play on! Please help us reach our goal of getting a new carpet for our pre-k students! Thanks for the support!
