My co-teacher and I recently moved into another classroom. We are fortunate enough to get some new seats and furniture for our students. The classroom needed a lot of work and we spent countless hours cleaning, organizing, and making the space presentable for our students. Our next steps require us to make some purchases to continue developing our learning environment into an amazing space that promotes independent and critical thinking!
Our goals for this project are to provide our students with headphones and sensory items to help them focus.
My students have a variety of learning needs and gaps resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and poverty in our community. These items will help them to access the material. They will simultaneously learn important skills they will need to become self-directed learners, making way for more project-based and creative assignments in my English Language Arts classroom!
In addition, we are hoping to get other items to help with the learning environment and continue our efforts to make this an enticing place for learning. A lot of the requests will help us to organize and allow students to manage their spaces. We are at a school where many students struggle with getting to school daily, due to family obligations and other incidences, they will be able to use these resources in our class while they're at school.
