Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The goal of this project is to fund a new classroom rug. I am moving into a brand-new classroom, and am hoping to build the space into what I envision for myself and my students. I am excited to create a new space from the ground up - literally!
For me, a rug is essential for many reasons - it gives us a common meeting space, creates an easy and clear boundary for community circles and small group lessons, and gives the students a cozy place upon which they can read and learn.
This rug will create the boundaries of our classroom library - a place for the students to be inspired and to develop a lifelong love of reading. It will also allow me to conduct small groups in reading and math, facilitate literature circles, and give students the opportunity to learn in a flexible environment.
As an avid plant lover, my new classroom will be overflowing with plants and greenery. This tropical themed rug is an essential part of my own mental health, and will hopefully contribute to the mental wellbeing of my students. With that in mind, I am hoping to fund this plant-themed rug that I hope ties in well with all of the greenery.
