Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After completing my first year of teaching all subjects at a 4th grade level, I'll be switching to only teaching 4th grade English Language Arts. This change means that I will be teaching and building relationships with three times the number of students per year with about 90 students in my room a day. I will also be moving into a new classroom. In a Title I school, many of the classroom supplies stay with the classroom when the teacher moves. These changes mean that I'll need to update supplies to best support my students. I want to ensure that my new classroom is comfortable with flexible seating options, organized with storage carts and shelves, and welcoming for my future students with a lamp and sensory toys.

All students deserve to feel at home in their classroom!

With the supplies on my list I will be able to help students learn valuable organizational skills and develop a love for reading and writing. The 3 drawer storage will allow each student to have a place to keep their ELA textbooks in my classroom instead of carrying them between classes. They will also store other essential supplies like whiteboards, interactive journals, and writing notebooks. The fidget tools will be used for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and a calming corner in my classroom. These items, and the others on my list, will help ensure that my students have a positive and safe learning environment. With your help I can make that possible for 90+ students for years to come!
